Have I mentioned recently that I work with WordPress rather a lot? Well I do. I really really do.

Not only are pretty much all of my sites powered by WordPress (either .com or .org), but I am also gainfully employed by Automattic, the folks who run WordPress.com and are the publishers of the insanely-popular twin plugins Jetpack and Akismet as well as several other awesome tools like Simplenote and Cloudup.

Well not quite so well known is the fact that in most major cities around the country and in a lot of countries world-wide, there are these things called “WordCamps.”  They’re kind of like if a conference had a crazy one night stand with a trade-show and then raised the resulting baby with their insane cousin: college (if nothing else for the amount of booze that gets consumed during the after parties!).

Why am I telling you all of this? Because after a year’s hiatus, Phoenix’s WordCamp is coming up on October 1st and 2nd, and tickets are already available.

And not only that, I’m doing something frankly a little insane: I’m going to be speaking at it.

I’ve spoken in front of large groups of people literally hundreds of times. But speaking at a WordCamp is a new one for me, so I’m both incredibly excited and no small amounts of nervous. So if you want to see me (no doubt) fumble all over myself, you should definitely come out. I’ll be speaking on the first day in the morning. 🙂

And if you think that sounds like an invitation to take me day drinking immediately afterwards, then we are clearly friends.

See you there!
